Clinical Pathway

Early Pediatric Intervention Pathway

Early pediatric intervention does not mean turning a child into an adult orthodontic patient early. It means observing space, bite, habits, and growth timing during mixed dentition and deciding what needs earlier management.

Records first

  • Scans record baby teeth, permanent tooth eruption space, arch form, and bite changes.
  • Photos and examination help review facial pattern, lip-tooth relationship, oral habits, and hygiene.
  • When needed, imaging helps review eruption direction, crowding risk, and space management.

What D4 reviews

  • Whether the child needs observation, habit guidance, space management, or early orthodontic intervention.
  • Whether pediatric aligners, removable appliances, or other management tools fit the current stage.
  • Whether this step can support the future permanent dentition, bite, and long-term maintenance.

How the pathway forms

  • Mixed-dentition records are created before deciding whether to intervene.
  • If intervention is needed, the goal is usually space, bite, habits, and growth timing rather than finishing all treatment at once.
  • Follow-up records help monitor tooth and bite changes over time.
